Definition of Donation

Definition: A donation is a gift. It is given by physical or legal persons. The donation gift is typically for charitable purposes or to benefit a cause. A donation gift may have various forms, like cash offering, services, goods ( new or used) : clothes, toys, food, or vehicles. It may consist of emergency or humanitarian aid items, aid support, and donation can also relate to medical care needs , for example blood or organs for transplantion. Charitable donation gifts of goods or services are also known as gifts in kind. The largest form of gifts in kind is created in many countries by donating used automobiles with the item donated being sold and then proceeds given to the charity or other non-profit which was the target of the donor's kind generosity. One usual way of obtaining more donations is by using raffles for the accumulation of funds.
